Materials & Care

In celebration of our beautiful planet, I prioritize sourcing the most ethical and sustainable materials for my jewelry. My pieces, crafted from reclaimed bronze, silver, and gold, are either handmade or hand-cast, reflecting my commitment to both quality and environmental responsibility.

Bronze

Bronze jewelry has ancient roots, emerging during the Bronze Age when copper and tin were harmoniously combined. Revered for its warm, golden glow, bronze became a medium for artisans to express beauty and strength. Cultures from the Egyptians to the Greeks created symbolic pieces, imbuing them with spiritual significance. Today, bronze jewelry continues this tradition, reflecting the timeless connection between craftsmanship and the earth, inviting wearers to embrace its rich history and energy.

Bronze jewelry can sometimes leave greenish marks on the skin because of its copper content. When the copper in bronze comes into contact with natural skin oils and acids, a chemical reaction occurs, creating a green-tinted tarnish. This is harmless and varies from person to person, with the reaction usually lessening over time as the skin adjusts.

Some brands apply protective chemical coatings to prevent tarnishing, but I have chosen to embrace bronze’s natural, raw beauty without such treatments, avoiding chemicals and staying true to a sustainable approach. Over time, these natural marks often lessen as the bronze and skin develop a gentle patina together.

To minimize or prevent greenish marks from bronze jewelry, you can try these tips:

  1. Apply a Clear Barrier: Use a layer of clear nail polish on areas of the jewelry that touch your skin.  There are many non-toxic options available. This creates a barrier between the bronze and your skin and can last for a few months before needing a reapplication.
  2. Keep Skin and Jewelry Dry: Moisture speeds up the chemical reaction, so avoid wearing bronze jewelry while washing hands, swimming, or during intense exercise.
  3. Clean and Polish Regularly: Wipe your jewelry with a soft cloth after wearing to remove any oils or sweat. A gentle polish with a jewelry cloth can also keep bronze shiny and reduce tarnishing.
  4. Layer with Skin-Friendly Products: If you find your skin reacts strongly, consider using a light layer of skin lotion on the area where the jewelry will rest. Let the lotion dry completely before putting on the jewelry.

SILVER

Silver jewelry has ancient origins, with roots tracing back over 5,000 years to early civilizations in Mesopotamia and Egypt, where it was highly valued for its rarity and radiant beauty. Many cultures believed silver to possess spiritual significance, symbolizing purity, clarity, and moon energy. Known as the "metal of the moon," silver was thought to connect the wearer with feminine energies, intuition, and emotional harmony. The reflective nature of silver was also believed to ward off negativity, making it a protective element in spiritual practices. Today, silver jewelry continues to embody these qualities, linking us to ancient traditions and the natural cycles of renewal and protection.

Although sterling silver is durable, it can tarnish over time due to exposure to air and moisture. Regular polishing and proper storage help maintain its luster, making it a low-maintenance yet luxurious choice for everyday wear or special occasions. Silver’s hypoallergenic properties also make it ideal for sensitive skin, offering beauty and comfort.

GOLD

Gold is truly celestial in origin, created through the explosive forces of supernovas and the collision of neutron stars. It arrived on Earth millions of years ago via meteorites, embedding itself as a limited and treasured resource within the planet.

Gold jewelry embodies both beauty and profound spiritual significance, shining with a warmth and glow that has captivated humanity for millennia. Revered as the "metal of the sun," gold is more than a symbol of wealth and elegance; it represents life force, abundance, and divine light. Many cultures believe that wearing gold jewelry enhances vitality, brings balance, and channels positive energy, aligning the wearer with higher wisdom and inner strength. Its timeless beauty, combined with a legacy of spiritual meaning, makes gold jewelry a cherished choice, connecting us to ancient ideals of harmony, resilience, and radiant grace.

To preserve its shine and worth, gold jewelry benefits from gentle care—use a soft cloth with warm water or a polishing cloth to remove daily buildup and keep it glowing.

Gold filled

Gold-filled jewelry features a genuine layer of gold that is permanently bonded to a sturdy base metal, creating a lasting, radiant finish. Unlike gold-plated pieces, gold-filled items contain nearly 100 times more gold, making them significantly more valuable and resistant to tarnishing. With its durability, gold-filled jewelry maintains its luster beautifully, without flaking, fading, or discoloring over time. This quality makes it an exceptional choice for those seeking elegance and longevity in their jewelry.

General Care

To maintain the shine & beauty of your bronze or silver jewelry use a polishing cloth regularly to restore its luster and remove any surface tarnish that may accumulate. If you love a more rustic look no extra care is needed!

Avoid contact with perfumes, body oils, and other chemicals, including household cleaners. Never use chemical jewelry cleaners as these will do more harm than good.

Store it in a cool dry place.
